OVER
There have been Scouts in Consett since 1910, and today Scouting is proving to be more popular than ever. The group currently has over 70 members meeting every week in our three sections:-
Beaver Scouts (6 to 8 year olds)
Cub Scouts (8 to 10 year olds)
Scouts (10 to 14 year olds)
The aim of Scouting is to develop young people, to help them reach their potential, and to help them become better citizens within their local, national and international communities.
We do this through a programme of activities and events which train the young people, through active involvement and team work. We aim to ensure that every member enjoys the Everyday Adventure that Scouting has to offer.
This could be a 6 year old Beaver Scout taking part in his first night away, a Cub Scout enjoying her first weekend camp in a tent, or a 13 year old Scout reaching the top of his first mountain. Climbing, abseiling, camping, kayaking, canoeing, archery, hiking, expeditions and survival skills are just a small selection of the activities you can do in Scouting.
