Please have a browse through these pages to see what we hope to achieve, and why we need a new headquarters.

There have been Scouts in Consett since 1909, and today Scouting is proving to be more popular than ever. You can find out more about Scouting today in Consett on the About Us page.

Our aim is to build a new headquarters on the site of our current building in Constance Street, Consett. As the pictures on the current situation page show, our current building is well past its best, but this is not surprising when you consider it was given to us by the Steelwork Company in the 1960s. The steelworks is now long gone, closed in 1980 leaving a long legacy of unemployment and deprivation for the town, from which it is only now really recovering. Our History page shows pictures of Consett in 1980 just before the works was closed.

A New Future shows what we are trying achieve, or really what we need to achieve, to secure the future of Scouting in Consett, and the appeal page shows how you can help us reach our target.
